ION and ENOC Partner to Deploy Fast EV Chargers Across Sharjah, Accelerating the UAE’s Clean Mobility Transition

According to the Sustainability Middle East News—Sharjah’s electric mobility landscape is gaining momentum as ION, the sustainable mobility venture founded by BEEAH and Crescent Enterprises, and ENOC Group announce a strategic partnership to roll out fast DC electric vehicle chargers across ENOC service stations in the emirate.
ION and ENOC Partnership

The initiative arrives at a pivotal moment. EV adoption in Sharjah is rising rapidly, and the UAE’s National EV Policy—targeting 50 percent electric or hybrid vehicles by 2050—has intensified the demand for scalable, high-speed charging infrastructure.

By combining ION’s intelligence-driven charging platform with ENOC’s extensive energy network, the collaboration is designed to strengthen the backbone of Sharjah’s evolving mobility ecosystem.

Sharjah is witnessing a surge in electric vehicle usage as residents embrace cleaner, more efficient transport options. This rapid uptake has placed increasing pressure on the existing charging network, creating gaps in accessibility and convenience.

The new partnership directly addresses this need. ENOC and ION have identified high-impact, high-traffic stations across the emirate where fast DC chargers will be deployed. ION will oversee supply, installation, and operations through its advanced intelligent platform, while both organizations explore additional pathways for investment and network expansion.

Hussain Sultan Lootah, Acting CEO of ENOC Group, emphasized Sharjah’s role in driving national sustainability goals:
“Sharjah’s rapid progress in sustainability and innovation strengthens the UAE’s vision for a green economy. Our partnership with ION reflects our commitment to future-ready energy infrastructure and supporting nationwide clean mobility.”

ION’s fast-charging ecosystem is built with user experience at its core. Drivers benefit from:

  • Easy charger discovery
  • Pre-booking options
  • Real-time charging status
  • Automated wallet payments

This integrated platform eliminates common pain points that have historically slowed EV uptake and ensures a smooth, intuitive charging journey from start to finish.

Amir Melad, CEO of ION, reinforced this focus on simplicity and convenience:
“Within ENOC stations, our system streamlines deployment and operations, while providing drivers with a seamless, intuitive charging experience.”

ION’s capabilities extend well beyond deployment. The company recently launched a comprehensive EV charging platform that consolidates the entire value chain—from network operators and property owners to fleet managers, public entities, and end users.

This unified model reduces fragmentation, enhances operational efficiency, and ensures that charging infrastructure can scale rapidly as demand increases.

The ENOC partnership builds on ION’s active initiatives, including:

  • A rollout of 100+ ultra-fast DC chargers across Sharjah in collaboration with SRTA
  • Deployment of the GCC’s first ultra-fast EV charger on Yas Island
  • A sustainable electric ride-hailing collaboration in Masdar City
  • Rapid expansion of the ION app for drivers across the UAE

Together, these initiatives form a robust foundation for the UAE’s evolving clean mobility network.

As the UAE advances toward ambitious climate and sustainable mobility objectives, partnerships like ENOC–ION illustrate the progress already underway. By merging strong infrastructure assets with next-generation technology, the collaboration enhances Sharjah’s position as a regional leader in clean mobility.

More importantly, it empowers consumers with faster, more accessible, and more dependable charging solutions—an essential step toward mainstream EV adoption.

This initiative is not only an upgrade to the nation’s charging network; it is a measurable step toward a smarter, cleaner, and more connected mobility future.

The advancements shaping the UAE’s EV charging ecosystem—including infrastructure innovation, electrification, fast-charging technologies, and intelligent mobility platforms—will be key themes at two major global gatherings next year.

The 5th Edition of the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit (EVIS Abu Dhabi 2026) and EcoMobility Global (EMG 2026), on 13–14 October 2026 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, will bring together global leaders, policymakers, energy companies, OEMs, infrastructure providers, and technology innovators.

As countries accelerate investments in EV infrastructure and next-generation mobility systems, EMG and EVIS offer a powerful platform to showcase innovations, forge strategic partnerships, and advance the global transition toward sustainable, smart transport.
